Important Information for SELLERS, BUYERS & HELPERS!
The BCT’s Nearly New Sales are the cheap and cheerful option to kit out your children from the early days right up to 12 years old. Top-quality items are on sale for a quarter to a third or less of their original price. Each product is hand-checked for quality to set BCT standards before it is put on the stand.
The Nearly New Sale is the BCT's most important fundraising event! It is open to everyone so please spread the word to your friends, neighbours and colleagues! (You can download a poster for your noticeboard here.)
For many members the Nearly New Sale is a highlight to look forward to but if you are a new to this event you might be unsure how a Nearly New Sale actually works.
All the exact details can be found (and read!) on our website: https://bctbelgium.org/family-life/nearly-new-sale/ . In the meantime please find below a short lowdown on the basics of how a BCT Nearly New Sale works, whether you intend to sell items, buy items, help at the sale - or do it all!
We wish you a successful Sale and hope that everyone can benefit from this unique opportunity on: Sunday 5 October 2025 (13:30 - 16:00 last entrance) at the Joli-Bois, Dreve de Shetlands 15, 1150 Woluwe-Saint-Pierre
Best wishes, Your BCT Nearly New Sale Team
Information for SELLERS
What makes the NNS so special for sellers? The BCT sells items on behalf of pre-registered sellers at a pop-up style second-hand shop. Sellers don't have to be at the sale in order to sell!
Number Allocators are points of contacts for sellers. They are dotted around Brussels and its surrounding areas so for convenience one would choose the one that is nearest to you as you will eventually need to bring your items to their house and pick up any unsold items after the sale.
Sellers can ask for up to 2Seller Numbers with each number allowing them to sell up to 50 small items and up to 5 large items Each Seller Number costs 3.50 euro for BCT Members and 7 euro for Non Members.
What can you sell ? Baby and children’s clothes (age 0-12 years), nursery equipment, toys, puzzles, games, strollers, prams, bicycles and ride on toys, car seats, Maxi Cosi’s etc. You can also sell maternity clothes and books (children's and parenting) NO shoes or DVDs!
Remember that each item is quality checked by our Sale Committee during the Quality Checks so only place your best quality items for sale. Clothes with stains, broken zips, missing buttons, damaged toys etc will be rejected and given back to you.
How do you prepare your items? Your NA will send you detailed info on how to prepare your items and create your unique barcode labels, but a good tip is to start finding some safety pins to secure the labels to your items!
How do you price your items? Always think – what would you pay for it? (Items priced 10% - 20% of their original value sell the best.)
Once labelled sellers have to deliver their small itemsto their Number Allocator's house on an arranged day and time.
Large Items(such as prams, highchairs etc.) will need to be brought to the hall on the day of the Sale and registered with, Sanda our Large Item Coordinator. You are allowed to sell up to 5 large items per seller number.
All unsold items have to be picked up by the seller. Small itemsfrom their Number Allocator at a prearranged time; large items directly from the hall on the day of the sale. Direct donation to charity is unfortunately not possible!
When do I get my money? Money is paid approximately4 weeks after the sale. The BCT collects 20% from the sales. All proceeds are used to cover the event cost and they go towards keeping the various BCT services up and running. Further details are given in your 'seller' information pack.

Perks for helpers: As a thank you for helping, all helpers are given access to the pre-sale helpers' shop before the doors open to the general public. This is a great opportunity to pick up the best bargains!
Please find below some of the tasks that we need help with:
Quality Checks Each Number Allocator will be setting their own date for the important quality check (usually the week before the sale). A team of helpers makes sure that every item conforms to the set BCT standards before it is allowed into the sale hall.
Clubhouse Preparations Help to bring up the Sale equipment from the Clubhouse cellar ready for the van to collect on Saturday 4 October.
On Sunday 5 October we need the following helpers:
Setup (09:00 - 13:00) Setting up the hall and unpacking all the quality checked items and placing them on the tables ready for the Sale.
On a Till(13:00 - 17:00) Processing payments from the buyers - It would be very helpful if you can bring your own laptop/ tablet to access the BCT Sale website- but no downloading is required!
Table and Rails (13:00 - 17:00) Keeping the tables and rails tidy during the Sale.
Security (13:00 - 16:30) Making sure buyers do not try to steal items and generally keeping a lookout in the hall and by the tills.
Clear Up(16:00 - 18:30).. ...hopefully finishing earlier if we are quick! ;-) Sorting out the unsold items to transport back to the Number Allocators .
Unloading at the Clubhouse (18:30 - 19:30) It would be great to have some fresh pairs of hands waiting at the Clubhouse to help unload the equipment and carry it back down to the cellar.
