CNCE lectures in January & February
Diesel engine operation and maintenance 11 January
A brief introduction to the main " do's " and " don'ts " of using and maintaining a marine diesel engine, including spotting early signs of problems, treating the engine well, simple troubleshooting and changing essential parts when necessary.
Get an overview of electrical systems that keep a modern sailing yacht functioning; covering battery management, power generation, safety, fuses, connectivity. This will include a short practical exercise.
Learn about common hazards on board and first-response actions. This lecture emphasizes is on precautionary measures, stabilisation and evacuation and avoidance of secondary effects.
Elements of calculating where the boat is, where the boat is going, where you want to go and how to avoid local dangers, using visual and simple electronic navigation.
